From September 23–26, Kazakhstan will make history as the first country in Central Asia to host the World Forum of Central Securities Depositories (WFC2025), a landmark moment for the region and a powerful signal of its rising profile in global finance.
This premier biennial forum, hosted by the Kazakhstan Central Securities Depository (KCSD), will gather over 250 leaders, experts, and decision-makers in financial market infrastructure, including representatives from global financial powerhouses such as Clearstream, DTCC, ADB, WFE, ISSA, GLEIF, ICMA, and others.
Almaty’s selection as host city follows the election of Yedil Medeu, Chairman of KCSD, as Chair of the WFC Board at the 2023 forum in Prague. This decision underscores Almaty’s status as the financial capital of Central Asia.
“WFC is a platform that fosters collaboration through the exchange of expertise and best practices. It contributes not only to the development of the post-trade industry but also to setting global trends and enhancing cooperation among financial institutions. In this regard, we are proud to announce that WFC2025 will take place in Almaty, Kazakhstan,” said Mr. Medeu.
The 2025 forum will convene under the theme: “Evolving Landscape of CSDs: Navigating Challenges, Opportunities, and the Future of Post-Trade Infrastructures.” The program features seven high-level plenary sessions and three in-depth case study presentations by renowned experts in the field, all spread across two days. The key topics include emerging technologies, regulatory frameworks, systemic risk management, and cross-border market integration — with a focus on how CSDs can thrive in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
Each plenary session will feature representatives from national securities depositories and leading financial institutions across continents, sharing diverse practical experiences, innovations, and regulatory insights that are shaping the future of capital markets.
WFC2025 is organized by the World Forum of CSDs, which unites five regional associations representing nearly 135 central securities depositories worldwide.
These include the Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG);
the Americas’ Central Securities Depositories Association (ACSDA);
the Association of Eurasian Central Securities Depositories (AECSD);
the European Central Securities Depositories Association (ECSDA); and the Africa & Middle East Depositories Association (AMEDA).
The forum serves as a key global platform for collaboration and strategic dialogue on systemic risks, digitalization, and the evolving architecture of post-trade infrastructure.
KCSD is steadily strengthening its role as a regional clearing and settlement hub by adopting cutting-edge technologies and upholding international standards, ensuring the efficient and secure safekeeping and settlement of securities for financial market participants not only in Kazakhstan but across the region.
Register now to be part of this historic global gathering that will define the future of post-trade finance.
